White Pines Lake and the community of White Pines is just a short drive from Arnold. Visitors take Blagen Road, by the Chevron Gas Station in downtown Arnold. White Pines community developed in 1938 from the Blagen Mill’s lumberjacks and their families.

There are many places to picnic with barbeques along the shoreline. Adjacent is a playground for kids and an exercise area just by the playground. The shore has a sandy beach and two places to launch canoes/kayaks’. Guests may also enjoy the hiking trail that goes along the shoreline. Bring your basketball or volleyball as White Pines Lake has a court for both games. On one end of the lake is the baseball field. Lions Grove picnic area is available to be rented for occasions.

White Pines Lake is a great place to fish. It is a popular location for Parents with kids that haven’t caught before. The lake is stocked several times during the summer. Each year there is the Father’s Day Fishing Derby sponsored by Ebbetts Pass Sporting Goods (who stock the lake and are a great source of fishing advice).

Just above the Dam is the Sierra Nevada Logging Museum. Telephone 209-795-6782, a fascinating look at the art of cutting, transporting, and transforming the trees into usable lumber for housing and other construction. The museum has models showing the various mills in operation, so guests realize the hardiness of the Lumberjacks life and the ruggedness of the industry even today. A museum you must visit with the family and friends.

In the late summer, the Museum hosts a Logging Jamboree.
